THG parenting workshops have been designed and delivered within Black and Minority Ethnic communities to support parents who struggle with adjusting to raising their children in the UK, without losing their identity or compromising their culture. This balancing act is easier said than done, as it needs a well rounded understanding of the UK’s multifaceted legal, safeguarding, immigration requirements, coupled with navigating the cultural nuances of societal obligations.

Why We Celebrate Black History Month
- Acknowledge overlooked histories.
- Many stories of Black Britons have not been fully taught or documented. BHM helps to bring these stories to light.
- Celebrate achievements and excellence.
- It is a time to recognise the successes, resilience, creativity, and leadership within Black communities.
- Educate and raise awareness.
- BHM provides an opportunity for learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations about race, identity, and equality.
- Promote inclusion and representation
- Representation matters. Celebrating Black history helps create a more inclusive society where everyone feels seen, valued, and respected.
- Inspire future generations.
- By highlighting Black role models past and present, BHM encourages young people to dream bigger and believe in their potential.
What Black History Month Means to THG
At THG, celebrating Black History Month reflects our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is an opportunity to listen, learn, celebrate culture, and continue building an environment where everyone belongs and thrives.
Black history is not only something to reflect on for one month
It is something to recognise, respect, and celebrate all year round.
